About the Author
Dr. Kuang-Hua Chang is a Williams Presidential Professor for the School of Aerospace and Mechanical
Engineering (AME) at the University of Oklahoma (OU), Norman, OK. He received his diploma in
Mechanical Engineering from National Taipei Institute of Technology, Taiwan, in 1980; an M.S. and
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1987 and 1990, respectively. Since then, he joined the Center for Computer-Aided Design (CCAD) at Iowa as Research Scientist and CAE
Technical Area Manager. In 1997, he joined OU. His areas of interest include Virtual Prototyping, CAD,
Fatigue and Reliability Analysis; Tools and Information Integration for Concurrent Design and
Manufacturing; Solid Freeform Fabrication, as well as bioengineering applications. His research has been published in three books and more than 130 articles in international journals and conference proceedings.
Dr. Chang has also received numerous awards in both teaching and research in the past few years. He is a recipient of the SAE Ralph R. Teetor Award (2006), Best Paper Award of iCEER-2005 iNEER
Conference for Engineering Education and Research, Outstanding Asian American Award (2003), and
Public Employee Award of OKC Mayor’s Committee Award on Disability Concerns (2002). In addition,
he received awards from OU, including: Alumni Teaching Awards (spring and fall 2007, fall 2008, spring
2009), Regents’ Award on Superior Research and Creative Activities (2004), BP AMOCO Good
Teaching Award (2002), and Junior Faculty Award (1999). He was named Williams Presidential
Professor in 2005 for meeting the highest standards of excellence in scholarship and teaching.

Dr. Chang has worked with aerospace and automotive industry, and created Reverse Engineering testbed to support MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul). He has also served as technical consultants to US industry and foreign companies, such as LG-Electronics, and Seagate Technology.

Excellent Collection of State of the Art Surveys

With pleasure I read this excellent collection on state of the art surveys on psychological aspects of the internet. The chapters are of very high quality and very comprehensive. The content ranges from motivational aspects of wikipedia participation over internet abuse and privacy issues to the use of the internet for psychotherapy and for conducting research.

Written mainly for the researcher and for students, the book is relatively dry to read, but at the same time it remains accessible even for the non-psychologist. It contains a wealth of information for anybody interested in the impact of the internet on our society.

About the Author

Bob Kauflin is a pastor, songwriter, worship leader, and author with over thirty-five years experience. After pastoring for 12 years, he became director of Sovereign Grace Music in 1997. He oversees the production of their albums and teaches on congregational worship through WorshipGod conferences, seminars, and his blog, worshipmatters.com. He is currently an elder at Sovereign Grace Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He and his wife, Julie, have six children and an ever-growing number of grandchildren.

A book that is worthy of reading over and over again

Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin is a great read on the subject of worship. In the book, Kauflin covers not just why we worship, and not just on the biblical perspectives of worship, but also on the nuts and bolts of how worship leaders can lead more effectively, how we can keep ourselves grounded and avoid some of the pitfalls common to those who lead in the church, and finally, how we can be better staff members and support for our pastors. The book is loaded with not only helpful tips, but truly deep insights that could only come from someone who has pursued worship as a lifestyle.
I love that Kauflin never tries to parade superiority or overconfidence over the reader, but instead teaches through the examples of his own mistakes through his many years as a worship leader and pastor. This book will benefit not only the new worship leader, but anyone who is serious about being part of a biblical, God-centered ministry. With Worship Matters, Kauflin has given the church a book that is worthy of not just reading, but of reading over and over again. Exceptional.

GREAT MATERIAL.

This is great material here. It is a book that hits the important aspects of our Worship to God as individuals and as a community of brothers and sisters in Christ! He begins his first few chapters making sure that the reader understands what is important is our hearts (what do we love), our understanding (what do we believe), our commitment (what do we practice), and our way of living (what do we model our lives after). These are the drivers which Mr. Kauflin addresses (and I believe even stresses) that cannot be left behind as the reader presses deeper into the book.

Each chapter is a short read...I think the longest is probably 15, maybe 20 pages long? I've read some books that attempt to drive home its points multiple times within a chapter and (for me) it starts to feel like beating a dead horse. Other books have the longest stories ever such that you forget what the point was to begin with until the chapter ends and you're like "...oh, yeah, that's what this chapter was about...". Not so with this book by Mr. Kauflin. He has done an amazing job being short and to the point for all serving in our Worship to God.

If you want something that is much more in-depth (I would call these dense books) about Worship, you may find yourself hungry for more than what this book will share. But if you're looking for something short, concise, and clear regarding our Worship, you may very well find this book to be a great resource. If you're a praise leader or a praise team member, you should definitely pick this book up. If you're a Pastor or Director looking for a contemporary read on Worship, this is also good material...although I suspect that, if you are one, you likely have better material or want more in-depth material than what this may cover.

He knew I had a voice and liked singing and pretty much through me up there. At the time it was what we called devotion/testimony service. Then it lead to praise and worship. Well I WAS NEVER TAUGHT ANYTHING!!! (Smile :-) I learned from hit and miss (and booooooooooy there were a lot of misses). I too started going through a tug-of-war in my heart about God's glory and was rebuked heavily by my Pastor and was introduced to Tasha Cobbs conference call where I heard this man of GOD teach and she promoted this book. THIS BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE! I am now teaching my leaders under me to focus more on GOD. I believe I NOW KNOW what to say to the musicians. I just see things in such a greater light. I am so thankful that JESUS HAS ALLOWED ME TO GO INTO THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD AND I DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT OR CONJURE ANYTHING UP TO GET THERE!!! (Screaming!!!!). I love the LORD so much more now!

If you like the Shopaholic series, you'll love the Little Lady

I really really like British books. I've read all the charming books by Miss Read, and all the books by Sophie Kinsella. I searched for a couple of months for some new chic-lit to read and tried a few that fell short of the expectations. Then I somehow came across Hester Browne. This book was so incredibly enjoyable. It was like reading the Shopaholic books but a tad better. And for me the most enjoyable part is that it was clean. It made for really enjoyable light reading.

Liked this book a lot!

I was looking for light reading and this fit the bill perfectly. The story takes place in England in modern times, and is about a young woman who gets let go from her job and starts a business called "The Little Lady Agency". She has a male best friend and housemate and another female friend from her past job. IN her business she accompanies single men to parties and special occasions that they are not comfortable attending single. She also helps men polish their manners and shop for clothing. Her father and her family put her down, except for her grandmother who is very supportive. I liked the fact that there was no foul language and no graphic sex. It is a book that anyone can read from 15 to 95.

Melissa has always been made to feel like a disappointment to her dominating Member of parliament father. No matter what she did, or said he put her down. When she loses her job due to a takeover, she goes to a former teacher who she has been told is running her own business. It turns out to be an escort service, when one of the clients expects much more than a dinner date she punched him and fled the restaurant.
Always being a good organizer, she decided to open an agency to help single men organize their wardrobes and lives.
She along with her alter ego, Honey, do just that....

About the Author
Bruce S. Jansson (MA, University of Chicago and Harvard University; PhD, University of Chicago) is Professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of Southern California (USC). He joined the USC faculty in 1973 after working in Michigan as a community organizer and planner for tenant rights. His scholarly interests focus on advancing case advocacy and policy advocacy in social work, as well as examining the history and practice of social welfare policy. He also has served as the Moses Distinguished Research Professor at the City University of New York Graduate Center. Jansson is probably most well-known for the book THE SIXTEEN TRILLION DOLLAR MISTAKE: HOW THE U.S. BUNGLED ITS NATIONAL PRIORITIES FROM THE NEW DEAL TO THE PRESENT (2001). The author of several other titles, Jansson is currently working on two books. One discusses how social workers and other staff in the health and human services can link case and policy advocacy in different sectors including mental health, child welfare, corrections, education, and civil rights. The other analyzes why the United States has not significantly reduced health disparities in the last five decades, and whether the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 will achieve this result.

My fourth-graders LOVE it!

My fourth-grade students love these songs. The types of songs range from country-western to rap. The songs are fun, varied, and (most importantly) help students memorize the multiplication facts. I highly recommend this resource. (There is also a CD version.)
